Once you pick up the book, it is hard to put it down. The perfect blend of sensuality and suspense.

Julian has never encountered a powerful Carpathian female before Desari. Their characters were more interesting to me. Dark Challenge by Christine Feehan is about Julian Savage and Desari. Julian has been asked to watch over and protect Desari from human vampire hunters not knowing that she is his lifemate. Feehan, but truthfully, I found myself wanting to skip through some parts until scenes with Darius, Desari's brother and Syndil and Barak, Desari's other family members, came up. He saves her by giving her his blood and binds her to him through a Carpathian ritual. Julian believes Desari and her brother, Darius, are brother and sister to one of the most powerful ancient Carpathians, Gregori.

cThis is one of the better Carpathian stories from Mrs. It takes time also for Desari to understand what it means to be Carpathian and what being a lifemate means.

By the time Julian gets to Desari, she has been mortally wounded. He wants to protect her, but he has to realize that Desari is no fledgling who needs to be constantly supervised.

Julian is a powerful Carpathian alpha male who has met his match in soulful singer and Carpathian lifemate, Desari. Her independence and her abilities throw him for a loop.

4 stars. Except, it gets to her too late.

He also realizes during this time that she is Carpathian and that her "family" are Carpathians as well.

She has a way of making monsters into heros and making you want to read till you can't go any longer. I love all the books in the dark series by Christine Feehan.

You get to meet many more hidden Carpathians. This book was a little more humorous than the rest becuase of the main characters.

Pretty much every couple of pages were the same. I tried so hard to like this book, but in the end it was so poorly written, I couldn't even finish it. Maybe the end got better but I wouldnt make myself sit through another page. It was awful. I have never read anything that was so repetitive. 'Your my lifemate' *Sex scene* 'Dont want any other males near you' *Sex scene* 'You will obey me and do as I say' *Sex scene* and repeat all over again.
